Meet the New NZMS Swim Officer - Marco Cecioni

While living in the UK as a teenager, Marco swam at regional level and later joined the Royal Navy where he reached national level.  He rediscovered his love for swimming when he moved to New Zealand in 2005 and joined the Raumati Masters Club.  Marco has a passion for open water swimming and was part of the Raumati 8 persons relay team that swam the length of Lake Taupo in 2019.  He has also swum the Kapiti Island to Mainland swim.

Marco and his lovely wife Lesley, have two sons, Nic (20) and Alex (15) and both share Marco's passion for the water.  Alex loves kayaking, surf lifesaving and swimming and at the time of this interview Nic was in Kentucky USA on a university swimming scholarship.

When Marco is not in the water he works as a Service Delivery Manager keeping customers happy at Vocus Communications.  He is currently a Patrol Captain at Paekakariki Surf Club and a coach to nippers and is an active SNZ swimming official at local, regional and national meets.  Marco's inspiration is his family and his boys are his biggest supporters "kick dad kick" is their motto.  His goal is to "Keep swimming as long as I can".

Welcome to the NZMS Board and we wish you all the best!
