Katrina Speaks About Their Swim Around Lake Taupo

"Peter Cook swum Around Lake Taupo 155km in 13days on Feb 2012. He did his swim unsupported and was the first man to do this. Peter inspired me to take on this challenge. Next up was my phone call to Philip Rush who has supported and encouraged me from the very first call.  His knowledge and experience is the outstanding.

Mike Cochrane didn't need to be asked twice and jumped at the chance to do something crazy.

With our support team of Garth Ingle and Garry Leather on kayaks, Kevin Price on the support boat and Heather Price on the land logistics Mike and I bonded into an unstoppable team. We had planned to complete the swim in 8 days which we achieved.

What an amazing swim adventure it turned out to be, I didn't want it to end. On Feb17th I was excited to stand on the sand where we had began as the 1st Female and with Mike the 1st Tandem team to complete our Around Lake Taupo Swim.

We both agreed we would do it all over again in a heartbeat (on a boat of course supporting other swimmers)

With that big box now ticked we can move on to more swimming adventures."   Katrina Price
